Investment returns have two components: the real return which are the cash flows that companies share with investors via dividends or interest and the speculative return, which are due to short term price movements and reflect the “mood” of the market. We believe that focusing on long term real returns and ignoring short term fluctuations is critical to long term capital growth.
We help you understand and manage investment risk
Our goal is to help you understand the risks you must take to grow your capital and diversify away unnecessary risk. The one unavoidable risk for all investors is the risk of a drop in portfolio values due to short term price movements. We manage this risk by helping you understand how different portfolios can vary over time and decide how much price variation you are willing and able to assume.
We work to reduce unnecessary costs
No one can predict which specific investment will generate the best returns tomorrow. What we do know is that investments that promise high returns have higher associated risk.
While markets are uncertain, taxes and fees are not. At Shellman Invest, we focus on net returns and minimize unnecessary fees. We do not receive any compensation from banks or product providers, which gives us the independence to find the most cost-effective solutions for our clients.
